Ann Marie Shillito
Ann Marie was the one of the first jeweller to explore the use oftitanium which was introduced to students at Birmingham in 1965.
She continues to work with titanium, discovering its potential, particularly in conjunction with other materials, as the challenges posed by this unusual metal provide a constant stimulus to her creativity. Through exploring both its nature and processes such as forging, inlaying, milling, casting onto it, laser cutting, different methods for resists for anodising (e.g. rubber based, photo sensitive), hypoallergenic properties, she has gained multi-layered and deep-seated experience of its different properties which provide the inspiration and excitement for the wide range and variety of work she has produced and is still enthusiastically and sporadically producing.
